Objectives

Learning outcome:

 

Students carry out a development task related to destination management as a company/destination-oriented group project preferably in a multi-cultural and/or international environment in the Barents Region

 
Assessment criteria  
Pedagogical arrangements

Previous studies: Basics of Marketing, Service Marketing and Sales, Product Development and Pricing, Destination Management or equivalent studies(accomplished or studied at the same time).

Implemented in collaboration with a destination and/or businesses in the Barents region

Introduction lectures, familiarisation trip (if commission is outside Rovaniemi Region) to the destination of the commissioner, workshops, seminars

Material

Project documentation material.

Other learning material is depended on the contents of the commission and will be announced in the beginning of the study unit.

Content

The destination project is based on a commission from tourism industry.

Assessment

Assessment, grading scale:

Excellent (5)

The student has an excellent command of theoretical knowledge and is fully able to apply it in practical learning assignments. He/she participates in compulsory contact lessons and/or other learning situations (workshops, seminars etc.) actively and shows analytical, reflective and critical approach in all his/her activities. All the assignments are performed according to the instructions. The student has excellent cooperative and communication skills.

Good (3-4)

The student has a good command of theoretical knowledge and is mostly able to apply it in practical learning assignments. He/she participates in compulsory contact lessons and/or other learning situations (workshops, seminars etc.) quite actively and shows somewhat analytical, reflective and critical approach in most of his/her activities. All the assignments are performed mostly according to the instructions. The student has good cooperative and communication skills.

Satisfactory (1-2)

The student has a satisfactory command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it only partly or not at all in practical learning assignments. He/she seldom participates in compulsory contact lessons and/or other learning situations (workshops, seminars etc.) and shows very little or no analytical, reflective and critical approach in of his/her activities. The assignments are not fully performed according to the instructions. The student has satisfactory cooperative and communication skills.

Failed (0)

The student has not participated in the compulsory contact lessonsand/or other learning situations (workshops, seminars etc.) and has failed to perform one or more assignments according to the instructions. The student has no adequate cooperative or communication skills.
