Objectives

Medical Nursing and Internal Medicine 6 ECTS

Competence Goals:

The student can assess and define care needs. S/he can plan, implement and evaluate nursing interventions and processes for clients who suffer from the most common national diseases. The student has sufficient knowledge of the national diseases in Finland and internal medicine, and s/he understands their impact on a person’s health and coping in everyday life. The student knows the fundamental medications, medical care and examinations conducted in medical nursing and internal medicine.

Internal Nursing

Orientation to the course: objectives, contents, assignments and evaluation.

·Characteristic of Internal nursing and care chain of the patient in Medical ward

·Care of a patient with cardiovascular diseases (Sydän- ja verenkierto-)

·Care of a patient with disorder of the cerebral circulation (AVH)

·Care of a patient with diabetes

·Care of a patient with pulmonary diseases (astma, COPD)

·Care of a patient during blood transfusion

Care of a patient with cancer

Laboratory medicine and radiology in the care of patient with medical disease

Internal Medicine in Skhole (study following topics in Skhole!)

Assessment

Grade 0-5, it consists of:

Active presence during the lessons (80%). 100% during TC

Exam is evaluated 0-5 and medical calculation approved/disapproved. Exam in Internal Medicine (Skhole-material mentioned in Moodle)Approved/Disapproved.

In the final grade there is effecting the whole learning process where independent assignments and participating inTC are included.
