Objectives

To develop a mindset that enables the design and elaboration on the core elements of strategizing

To appreciate the exercises necessary to build successful strategies for an international firm

Content

International business strategy (IBS) explores the strategic choices and strategizing that guide commercial collaboration and transactions between entities in different countries. These strategy plans and actions to cross international borders are concerned with the relation between a firm and its new host country environment. IB strategist is interested in what determines if this decision to go abroad will be a success or a failure.

This course focuses on the structure, processes and tools of strategizing in international business context.

  • A unified "strategy tripod" perspective on international business strategy.
  • Applying international market opportunity assessment process and relevant strategy analysis tools
Assessment

60%: Active participation with lectures, excercises, discussions and reflections during the course. Individual or pair assignment. 40%: Spring semester 2017 joint assignment.
