Objectives

Student understands strategic planning as an organizational management activity that is used to set priorities, goals and vision for the company. He/she knows how to plan the strategy and is able to apply various tools for strategic planning, such as balances scorecard and PEST. He/she is able to perform internal and external environmental scanning for creating a strategy plan.

Student is able to explain the strategic planning as an organizational management activity. He/she knows how to plan the strategy and is able to apply various tools for strategic planning with little assistance. He/she is able to perform internal and external environmental scanning for creating a simple strategy plan under supervision.

Student is able to use strategic management theories to provide advanced explanation of the strategic planning as an organizational management activity. He/she knows how to plan the strategy and is able to apply various tools for strategic planning independently. He/she is able to perform internal and external environmental scanning for creating a simple strategy plan independently

 
Pedagogical arrangements

The utilized pedagogical approach includes various pedagogical methods, such as lectures, visiting lecturers, visits to destinations and/or to organizations, practical projects and learning assignments such as presentations and/or narratives.

The specified timetableof the learning process of approximately twelve weeks is planned together with the working life and given at the beginning of the study unit. 

Tutoring and multi-stakeholder assessment of the learning process takes places throughout the study unit according to the assessment criteria. Depending on the cooperation partners the development task and/or problem may vary on yearly basis.

-knows the basic goals, different roles and phases and tools of strategic planning processes as part of strategic management business process

-understands the role of foresight, total quality management and corporate social responsibility in the strategic planning and learns to apply related development and assessment tools to promote long-

term business planning and strategic management from experience economy perspective

-knows how to use Business Model Canvas (BMC) Balanced Score Card (BSC) as strategic tools

-understands the importance of strategic planning, its goals and functions as well how to lead these

Assessment

Assignment 1: Spotting the Basics of Strategic Managementtext + presentation (group) 40 %

Assignment 2: Suggesting Future Developments for the photography company of Kaisa Siren Craft Center (group) 60 %

Assignment 3: Self- and peer assessment (Individual)

All these 3 Assignments has to be returned to be able to get the finalgrade for the course.
