After this module, you understand the role of ICT in digital transformation, and you are able to recommend the appropriate ICT solutions according to the business strategy.

You understand the role of ICT in digital transformation, and you are able to recommend the appropriate ICT solutions according to the business strategy.

You understand the role of ICT in digital transformation of an enterprise. In addition, you know the fundamental principles and economics of digital enterprise and their alignment to the business strategy.

You are able to identify business advantages and improvements from adopting emerging technologies and new ICT solutions.

You are able to determine optimal enterprise ICT solutions and the characteristics of the connected digital ecosystems according to the business strategy of the enterprise.

 
Pedagogical arrangements

This module provides you the essential practical knowledge about digital transformation in enterprises. This knowledge and skills are required to plan how new ICT solutions can enhance business opportunities of an enterprise.

The module is implemented through a problem-based learning approach. Students analyze the business and the ICT environmentof the case company. Teachers coach the learning process, lecture, guide the practical work, organize workshops, and provide consultancy to the students.

The module includes 2 themes. Every theme consists of lectures, class discussions, individual and group exercises.

Theme: Digital transformation

- What is digital transformation and how does it change our lives.

- Smart, connected products and how do they change the competitive environment.

- Platform revolution.

Theme: Digital enterprise

- Digital ecosystems.

- Digital transformation of an enterprise.

- The role of technology and ICT solutions in digital transformation.

Assessment

You understand the role of ICT in digital transformation, and you are able to recommend the appropriate ICT solutions according to the business strategy.

Your knowledge and skills are assessed based on individual and group assignments, their presentations and self- and peer assessments.

Failed

You do not have sufficient knowledge and skills in the subject matter. You have failed to complete or submit the individual assignments according to the course requirements.

You understand the role of ICT in digital transformation and the generic benefits from the utilization of digital technologies. You are able to recognize digital transformation opportunities in a specific business environment. However, your analysis is not systematic, comprehensive and logical. There are very few conclusions and development suggestions, which are basic and self-evident. There are also significant deficiencies in their justification and application. Your proposals for digital transformation activities in the case company are considered but are insignificant in the semester project.

You have a good overall picture of elements and factors of digital transformation and their effects on the case company. You are able to identify the essential technologies and evaluate their business benefits. However, your analysis and proposal are rather common in the field and are not justified properly.

You have a good overall picture of different technologies utilized in digital transformation of enterprises. You are also able to identify the business advantages and improvements from adopting emerging technologies and appropriate ICT solutions for the case company. Your proposals about digital transformation activities in the case company are taken into account in the semester project.

You are able to identify the position and the role of the case company in digital ecosystems. You are also able to evaluate the digital enterprise maturity level of the case company and to recommend further digital transformation activities. Your proposal is presented clearly and is justified from the costs/benefits point of view.

You are able to determine optimal enterprise ICT solutions and the characteristics of the connected digital ecosystems according to the business strategy of the case company. Your proposals about digital transformation activities in the case company are significant for the semester project.

This module includes several mandatory assignments. These are done either individually or in a group according to the class instructions. The mandatory assignments are assessed with points summing up to 100 in total.

Additionally, the module includes several activities by successfully completing which you can get extra points.

The final grade is defined according to the overall number of points you get by completing assignments and activities.
