Learning outcome:

Students are able to identify the significance of multi-field research and project work in the development of professional practices and services of working life. Students are able to start developing their own research and project related expertise and become aware of the challenges of research and project work in northern environments. Students learn the basics for working in R&D projects. They are able to identify national and international sources of information. Students are able to identify the opportunities offered by R&D projects in working life and different learning environments of RAMK. Students are able to apply basic research methods in their research work and they are have basic know-how in project planning. At the end of the course students are able to plan and execute small-scale research and development projects.

Assessment criteria  
Pedagogical arrangements
Lectures, seminars and exercises. 80 % participation is required - less will lead to reduction in assessment. One exam.
Seminars will be written by using LaTeX typesetting environment. Exercises can include the use of Mathematica or SAGE

Lectures on how to use library catalogues, e-journals and other electronic resources.

Seminars on quantitative and qualitative research methods, and on LaTeX and SAGE (by using them as tools).
