Introduction to XML/XAML and declarative programming in .NET. We will examine the new .NET 3 and 4 technologies such as WPF, WCF and LINQ as well as discover different approaches to web programming in .NET.

During this course we will examine new .NET 3.5 technologies. The course consists of three study units:


  • Introduction to XML
  • XAML (eXtensible Application Markup Language) and WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation)
  • Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) Web Services

LINQ, Generic Methods and Generic Collection Classes:

  • Introduction to LINQ (Language INtegrated Query) and Generic Collections
  • XML and LINQ to XML
  • Databases and LINQ to SQL 
  • Searching and Sorting
  • Generics
  • Collections

.NET 3.5 Web Programming:

  • ASP.NET 3.5 and ASP.NET AJAX 
  • Silverlight, Rich Internet Applications and Multimedia 
  • WPF Browser Applications




Mid-term and final exams, which will be evaluated on the scale from 0 to 5. The course also has a mandatory programming assignment.
