Objectives

Learning outcome:

Students familiarize themselves in depth in service innovations. He/she is able to recognise the specific features of service experience development. Students are able to examine innovation strategy of Lapland and recognise innovative opportunities for service experience development. Students are able to distinguish how services and service experiences are designed and developed using innovative and creative tools in northern multicultural environments. Students are able to explain the meaning of Intellectual Property Rights in service business life and know the main tools used in protecting service businesses.

Pedagogical arrangements

Multi-method approach is used: Lectures, workshops, seminars, independent assignment and group assignment and open-book exam

Workshops, the seminar and the exam are compulsory.

There is a business related commission - service experience development task included in the study unit.

Assessment criteria:
 
Excellent (5)
- Student has an excellent command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it fully in practical learning excercises. Student participates contact lessons actively and shows analytical, reflective and critical approach in all his/her activities. All the assignments are performed according to the instructions.
 
Good (3-4)
- Student has a good command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it mostly in practical learning excercises. Student participates contact lessons quite actively and shows somewhat analytical, reflective and critical approach in most of his/her activities. All the assignments are performed mostly according to the instructions.
 
Satisfactory (1-2)
- Student has a satisfactory command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it only partly or not at all in practical learning excercises. Student participates contact lessons seldom and shows very little or no analytical, reflective and critical approach in his/her activities. The assignments are not fully performed according to the instructions.
 
Failed (0)
-Student has not participated the compulsary contact lessons and has failed to perform one or more assignments according to the instructions.
