Objectives

Learning outcome:

Students have basic readiness to plan, price and analyse quality products and services in the field of tourism and hospitality management based on local resources. Students have an overall picture of various R&D processes and the quality requirements of various services and products.

Pedagogical arrangements:

The study unit is based on a commission from tourism industry and is organised in co-operation with Lapland University.

Lectures, workshops and seminars and learning assignments

Student’s independent work.

  • tourism products and services
  • R&D processes and quality
  • pricing and purchasing products in the field of tourism and hospitality management
  • creating programme service products in the field of tourism and hospitality management
  • local resources and their utilisation
  • practical applications and case studies from abroad

Principal of Assessment:

Attendace, active participation in lectures, workshops and seminars

Learning assignments and/or exam

Assessment criteria:

Excellent (5)

- Student has an excellent command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it fully in practical learning excercises. Student participates contact lessons actively and shows analytical, reflective and critical approach in all his/her activities. All the assignments are performed according to instructions.

 

Good (3-4)

- Student has a good command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it mostly in practical learning excercises. Student participates contact lessons quite actively and shows somewhat analytical, reflective and critical approach in most of his/her activities. All the assignments are performed mostly according to instructions.

Satisfactory (1-2)

- Student has a satisfactory command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it only partly or not at all in a practical business plan project and related assignments. Student participates contact lessons seldom and shows very little or no analytical, reflective and critical approach in his/her activities. The assignments are not fully performed according to instructions.
