Objectives

Learning outcome:

Students have a comprehensive understanding of an organisation’s functions and performance. They are familiar with the tools used to monitor the performance and quality of functions and are able to take into consideration the information they produce in decision-making, setting strategic goals and developing business operation.

 

 
Assessment criteria  
Pedagogical arrangements

Pedagogical arrangements are based on multi-method approach. Contact lessons incl. lectures, seminars, workshops visiting lecturers from tourism industry/and or company visits; 40 hours. There is a small scale commission / development task from the tourism industry included into the study unit.

Several learning exercises and exam 90 h.

Study material will be announced in the beginning of the study unit.

  • strategic planning as a process: goals, phases and tools
  • self-assessment of quality as a strategic development tool
  • corporate social responsibility
  • foresight as part of strategic management

Principals of Assessment:

Attendace, active participation in lectures, seminars, learning exercises and/or exam

Assessment criteria:

Excellent (5)

- Student has an excellent command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it fully in practical learning excercises. Student participates contact lessons actively and shows analytical, reflective and critical approach in all his/her activities. All the assignments are performed according to instructions.

Good (3-4)

- Student has a good command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it mostly in practical learning excercises. Student participates contact lessons quite actively and shows somewhat analytical, reflective and critical approach in most of his/her activities. All the assignments are performed mostly according to instructions.

 

Satisfactory (1-2)

- Student has a satisfactory command of theoretical knowledge and is able to apply it only partly or not at all in practical learning excercises. Student participates contact lessons seldom and shows very little or no analytical, reflective and critical approach in his/her activities. The assignments are not fully performed according to instructions.

 

Failed (0)

-Student has not participated the compulsary contact lessons and has failed to perform one or more assignments according to instructions.
