Pedagogical arrangements

Our pedagogical approach KOTA includes various pedagogical methods, such as tutorials, lectures, practical projects and learning assignments (such as a portfolio or blog). The specified timetable of the learning process of eight weeks is planned together with the working life and given at the beginning of the study unit. Tutoring and multi- stakeholder assessment of the learning process take place throughout the study unit according to the assessment criteria.

1) Access to Finnish law, pages 9-72, 84-105, 126-165, 205-225, 240-249 (Aapo  Surakka, 2005)     or year 2011 version of the same book: pages 15-74, 87-107, 129-161,171-176, 221-248, 264-267.

Learning goals:

  • The student has a holistic understanding of business processes and understands possibilities of entrepreneurship in one's own field

Assessment of the Course: All parts have to be completed and approved

1) Entrepreneurship and business processes part:

-a learning diary based on the lectures on the 15th of January  done in small groups (1-4 persons),  20%


2) Contract and corporate law part:

-case study done in groups (written report and presentation)  40% and

-progress test done in small groups (1-4 persons) 40%

+self and peer evaluation

The Urkund program is used when returning the assignments.

Evaluation criteria:




Student is able to recognize main business processes.

Student understands main business processes.

Student understands main business processes and their meaning is successful business.

Student can retrieve and apply legal information with assistance as well as recognize the main challenges in business in the field of contract and corporate law.

Student can retrieve and apply relevant and up to date legal information independently. Student has an understanding of main legal challenges in business.

Student can efficiently and independently retrieve and apply up to date legal information in business problem solving.
