Objectives

The students know the basics of aseptics, microbiology and pathology. They know the principles of aseptic working methods and are familiar with preventive measures against infectious diseases in hospitals and other healthcare units. The students can eliminate infections in various healthcare environments.

Content

Course objectives:

Student

- knows the basics of microbiology and pathology

- can describe the characteristic features of micro-organisms

- knows alterations of blood flow

- can describe cell injury, aging and death and somatic death of the body

- can describe characteristics of benign and malignant tumours

- knows immune and inflammatory response of the body

Contents:

- the characteristic features of micro-organisms,virus and bacteria

- inflammation and immune system

- cell injury and cellular adaptation, cell aging, death and phases of wound healing

- alterations in blood vessels (arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis,thrombosis, emboli and infarct)

- neoplasia (birth, growth, spread, benign/ malign)

- somatic death of the body and autopsy
