The objective of the course is to allow students learn to use English in intercultural meetings and negotiations, with a focus on virtual meeting and negotiation practices and interaction and related documentation. Another objective is to learn to give professional presentations in international events in English and write an abstract prior to the presentation.
Classes are administred through general discussions on the basis of course work, in addition to which the majority ofwork is conducted through pair and team discussions, meetings and negotiations
Written course work is made accessible for students via Moodle, in addition to which all course work, written and oral, is submitted via Moodle to the teacher for review and assessment and final grading
The course book material is used andother learning material is made accessible to students in the English language via Moodle
Optional and recommended learning materials are also made accessible to studentsvia Moodle and hyperlinks to the Internet
The contents of this course are as follows:
- discussions on meetings, language of meetingsand practices of holding professional, business-related meetings, including related written documentation
- discussions on intercultural negotiations and practices of holding professional, business-related international negotiations, including written documentation
- discussions on business-related international events and giving compact presentations in seminars/conferences/congresses, including writing an abstract for the presentation
The students are graded on the scale of 0 - 5, the highest grade being 5.
The assessment is detailed and the assessment criteria are made accessible to students in the Course Outline/Implementation Plan document via Moodle at the beginning of the course
