Objectives

The students are capable of resource-based and analytical nursing as well as high-quality, multiprofessional, health-promoting and rehabilitating working methods. They examine client/patient care from the perspective of home care and respect their clients´/patients´ right to self-determination in home care. They can provide medical treatment and pharmacotherapy and understand the problems related to the pharmacotherapy of the elderly; in addition, they can prevent these problems. The students motivate and support the elderly to assume more responsibility for the own health and functional ability. The students take care of their own professional development in the professional nurse -client/ patient relationship.

Content

Ageing theories. Aging policy and recommendations. Nursing of the Elderly with different needs; special questions and challanges in the nursing of the Elderly in different living environments; use of welfare techology. Pharmocotherapy of the Elderly, Geriatric diseases.

Expertize in Elderly care.

Assessment

Written exam based on the given matarial. Grading scale 1-5.
