Objectives

The students know the historical, societal, and theoretical approaches that guide psychiatric nursing. They understand the societal significance of supportive mental health work and psychiatric know-how. They understand the dynamics between psycho-social wellbeing and mental disorders for the individual and the community. They understand the significance of a professional psychiatric relationship for the healing of a human mind. The students can provide crisis care in all areas of nursing. The students grow into the professional role of a nurse and learn to use their own person as a tool in psychiatric care. The students realise the significance of individual and community-level supervision in psychiatric nursing.
