Osaamistavoitteet ja teemat

This course gives the basic knowledge on how hydraulic systems are designed and dimensioned. The topics include calculations and selection procedures for hydraulic pumps, piping, valves (directional, pressure, flow), actuators (cylinder, motor) and other main components in hydraulic systems. Upon completion, the students should be able to understand the operation of a fluid power system, including design, control, application, and troubleshooting. The students should also be able to communicate with hydraulics experts and professionals (e.g. terminology. Detailed topics: Physics of fluid power systems ; Hydraulic energy unit including pump and power consumption ; Pipes/Tubes and connectors ; Troubleshooting ; Actuators (speed / force / torque) ; Valves ; Characteristic curves ; Controls and measuring ; Safety ; Laboratory work.

 
Arviointikriteerit

Assessment 0...5. Assessment is based on lectures and design exercises, the final examination and general participation (e.g. laboratory work) and continuous commitment. Satisfactory skills/knowledge and participation = 1 ; Good skills/knowledge and active participation = 3 ; Excellent skills/knowledge and active participation = 5.

Assessment: Grades 1 to 5 available.

Grading consists of final exam (50%), design exercise (30%) and general activity/participation (20%).

Grading: >25p.=1 (Sufficient) , >30p.=2 , >35p.=3 (Good) , >40p.=4 , >45p.=5 (Excellent).

Laboratory work is mandatory.
